What is Full Circle?

Full Circle is A key initiative of witch museum scotland.

We seek to illuminate a chapter of Scottish history that has long been shrouded in darkness, confined to academia and largely misunderstood by the public at large - the witch trials of Scotland (1563-1736), which resulted in the deaths of almost 4,000 innocent people, mostly women.

Our Full Circle initiative aims to respectfully convert a vacant, historic church into a museum offering a fact-based, historically accurate account of the Scottish witch trials.

Our Vision:

witch museum scotland envisions a space where the individual stories of those accused, tried and executed for witchcraft are shared. Through our permanent, physical museum space we aim to:

Educate: understanding our past is crucial to building a better future. witch museum scotland will serve as an educational resource, providing visitors with a deeper understanding of the historical context, legal proceedings, and societal factors surrounding the witch trials.

Decipher: By presenting accurate historical information and dispelling myths, we encourage critical thinking and skepticism. In our age of misinformation, it's vital for individuals to question and verify the stories they encounter.

Challenge: Misconceptions and stereotypes distort our understanding of the past and perpetuate harmful biases and discrimination. By addressing the myths surrounding witch trials, Witch Museum Scotland contributes to a broader conversation about challenging stereotypes and prejudices in society today.

Empower: Identifying our own misconceptions empowers us to reevaluate prevailing narratives. This can have broader societal implications, such as encouraging us to advocate for change and seek justice in cases where misinformation has led to harm.

Recognize: highlighting the gendered power differentials of the witch trials has contemporary relevance. We believe that recognizing these patterns can lead to discussions and actions aimed at closing the gender gap.

participate: empower Individuals to make informed decisions, engage in meaningful conversations, and actively participate in shaping a more just and equitable society.
